These are some pictures I took at a Roller Derby match. The crowd was deliciously diverse in true Montréal style. There were tots running around while adults sipped PBRs. If you want to check it out, visit their website. Best ten bucks you’ll ever spend! It’s a sport and a show all-in-one. The women skating are intimidatingly fierce, and the audience supports them passionately. It was a wonderful night in the Mile End.
She was there to support her aunt, “Apocalipstic” on Mtl’s team, “New Skids on the Block”.
I noticed her within the first three minutes of walking in. She takes a bold approach to leopard spots which I admire.
We’ll forgive her for repping Toronto.
They were quite the creative (and non-germaphobic) sister-brother duo. I had a lot of fun capturing their goofiness.
Go Mtl!! (In green)
It took some serious self-restraint for me to resist buying these beauties from one vendor.
Two of many awesome costumes on display.
Hula hoopers (I hope that’s the proper term) for the half time show.
This is a really cool custom: audience members stand at the edge of the rink once the game is over to high five all the skaters.
There’s a match tomorrow if you can make it!
Be sure to bring cash because they have no debit/credit machines. You can buy your tickets ahead of time online.
Cheers to enjoying summer.
