It’s been said Montreal has more restaurants per capita than any other city in North America. With no actual study to prove it, we can only hope you agree with us when we say that it is a definite possibility.

Our restaurants serve up a wide range of cuisines, which cater both to those looking for cheap eats and those looking for a fine dining experience. In recent years, many of Montreal’s fine dining restaurants have offered a special “Late Night Menu”.  This special menu serves to attract a younger clientele to typically “older” restaurants, and gives them a chance to experience Montreal’s fine dining without spending a fortune.

A Late Night Menu is offered at all of the restaurants listed below, with service usually starting at 9pm or 10pm, depending on the restaurant. The menus are set at a fixed price, which usually feature an appetizer and a main–although this varies at each place. Check out the Late Night Menus listed below, and make sure to check them out beforehand and choose which deal gets you the most bang for your buck!

Review # 1 – Moishes’ Late Night Menu

Moishes The Main

Looking to knock the first restaurant off the list, we recently tried Moishes’ “Three Hours to Midnight” menu. Located on Blvd. Saint-Laurent  for the past 75 years, Moishes serves up delicious classics, featuring Steak Frites, chopped liver, Monte Carlo potatoes, and a filet mignon poutine.

The atmosphere at Moishes is another thing to boast about, as they consistently manage to fill an enormous dining room and showcase a stunning 20-foot map of Boulevard St-Laurent in the 1870’s. Their affordable late night deal starts at 9 pm and runs until midnight. Be sure to make a reservation in advance. $25 gets you an appetizer, a main dish, and coffee or tea– but what they don’t list with the $25 deal are the unlimited giant pickles, freshly baked bread and the mouthwatering coleslaw they serve you when you sit down.

The appetizers on the late night menu include items such as salmon tartar, Caesar salad and chopped liver, and the main course include choices of a small filet mignon, Alaskan king crab, and a Kobe burger with grilled oysters and mushrooms.

Montreal Moishes Steak Frites

We ordered the salmon tartar, Caesar salad, and both had steak frites as the main dish. The steak was cooked just as we had asked and the fries were nice and crispy, making them perfect for dipping in the peppercorn sauce drizzled over top of the steak. The service was fast and the waiters were very attentive. The entire experience at Moishes was better than expected, the food we ordered was insanely delicious, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was just perfect. We knew that Moishes was supposed to be one of the best steakhouses in North America, but the $25 menu made it taste so much better!
