With an extremely crisp and clean design, the latest addition to Montreal’s third wave coffee community, Buck15 Espresso Bar, can be found along Notre-Dame Ouest on the cusp of the St-Henri neighbourhood, a few steps from the Atwater Market.
The café is the first in Canada to serve Spyhouse Coffee, a Minneapolis roaster. In addition to espresso-based drinks, the shop also serves v60 pour-over for those seeking filter coffee, and thickly-sliced toast from Hof Kelsten (with various topping choices).
This is just one of many collaborations with local Montreal businesses at Buck15; with lamps by Lambert et Fils, table by Badger Services, aprons by Noir et Black, milk by Société Orignal, and mural by Station16 artists. But best of all, the single, oblong, communal table must host a certain sort of magic, because anyone who lingers by it can’t help but acquaint themselves with their neighbours, inevitably leaving the café with at least one new friend.
