You can’t discuss Montreal’s art scene without mentioning Xavier Dolan. The prodigy film director from Montreal has films such as I Killed my Mother (J’ai Tué Ma Mère) and Heartbeats (Les Amours Imaginaires) on his directorial resumé. His latest feature, Mommy, was highly touted despite it being snubbed from an Oscar nomination in the best foreign-language film category.
If you haven’t seen Mommy yet, you’re not too late! The Phi Centre is hosting a screening of the film on March 16th at 7:30 pm. Even though it was unjustly snubbed at the Oscars, it won the Jury Prize at the Cannes film festival. Also, Mommy recently cleaned up at the Canadian Screen awards, picking up the best film, best director, best actor, best actress, best actress in a supporting role, and best original screenplay, awards.
So buy your tickets now and head to the Phi Centre next Monday to see Xavier Dolan’s masterpiece, Mommy.
