[dropcap size=small]M[/dropcap]ontreal is notorious for its cuisine, its culture, its language, and its people. As you walk through the downtown and surrounding, eclectic neighbourhoods, you get the impression that you have fallen into a region caught between European and North American influences. It becomes hard to locate the foundation of the place in this ever shifting cityscape. No matter what period they were built in, columns evoke a sense of history that points to some of the more powerful forces that shaped our city. One may see excess, elegance, strength, magnificence, or beauty. But whether you’re entering a bank, a museum, or a cathedral, these columns are an impressive sight. Photographer, Olivier Drouin, took to the streets to capture some of Montreal’s best. Check it out.
