10. Red House Glory – So Easy
These guys are fighting for nineties music! Red House Glory share “So Easy” from their upcoming Heart of Gold EP slated for release on June 29. The song opens with a powerful dose of guitar and percussion, but slowly starts to develop into more of a grunge/psychadelic inspired tune.
9. HANA – Clay
Meet HANA, the songstress who is about to take over the pop world and it’s no surprise that she joins Grimes and Lana Del Rey on their tour this summer. “Clay” is a playful summer tune, tinged with some darker elements. Listen to the song below, produced by Canadian producer Blood Diamonds.
8. Tei Shi – Go Slow (Blue Hawaii remix)
From Montreal’s Blue Hawaii comes a remix of Tei Shi’s “Go Slow”. The glitchy interpretation of Tei hi’s hollow vocals, offer a fresh take on a bubbly synth-infused tune. The Verde EP from Vancouver’s Tei Shi is out now.
7. Mac DeMarco – The Way You’d Love Her
New Mac DeMarco music! Fitting in nicely with DeMarco’s catalogue this number sounds like it could have easily been an outtake for his “Blue Boy”. Check out “The Way You’d Love Her” below, which comes off DeMarco’s “mini-LP” Another One out August 7. Mac DeMarco comes to Metropolis on August 13.
6. Wasiu – Picture Imperfect
Wow! This is Montreal-based rapper Wasiu with “Picture Imperfect” produced by A$AP P on The Boards. It’s a breezy cut, bubbling with pent-up anger and frustration. Take a listen below. Details on the release of his debut album are still unclear but it is slated for sometime this summer.
5. Bravestation – Actors
Here’s another track fit for any summer playlist! It’s a dreamy, new-wave-like tune with vocals easily compared to Brandon Flowers. The Toronto indie outfit, Bravestation, showcase “Actors” off of their forthcoming EP.
4. Pat Jordache – Morning Sun
Montreal’s Pat Jordache’s has just released his sophomore album, Steps, and off the latest release comes a stunning summery jam. “Morning Sun” is dominated by an infectious liquid funk rhythm that will sure take away your Monday blues. Catch Pat Jordache at Bar Le Ritz PDB June 26.
3. Metric – The Shade
This track is everywhere! Yes, Metric are back after three years of laying low since their Synthetica release. Here is their brand new warm single, “Shade” and it doesn’t disappoint. Metric play the Bell Centre on July 3.
2. Robert Robert – Lonely Road ft. ZéFIRE
Montreal musician/producer Robert Robert aka Arthur Gaumont Marchand is just about ready to release his Not Self-Titled EP. Before it hits the shelves here’s a little teaser! “Lonely Road” lets Marchand’s craft shine as he meticulously brings together the rap cuts from ZéFIRE with rock, pop and synth elements. 1. Mas Ysa – Margarita
The more and more I listen to this song, the more I fall in love with it. The Montreal-born electro singer-songwriter, Mas Ysa aka Thomas Arsenault plucks this gem off his forthcoming LP, Seraph set for release on July 24. If you feel that it isn’t just another electronic dance number that’s because it’s “electronic music for the heart.”
